Garmin nüvi 660 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator

nüvi 660 is another fine product from the well know GPS navigators producer Garmin. This time it is a wide screen solution with some high-end features and moreover there is a bargain offering on it, $385 less, so one can buy it just for just $314.99.
Garmin equips this model with the City Navigator NT maps (based on high quality NAVTEQ data) which cover the United States and Canada, and besides the roads it has about six million POIs (which is quite impressing when compared to the mid-range models, except the Garmin ones of course). But unlike the cheaper models of nüvi it has wide screen which makes navigation in the terrain much easier. The screen is also very bright and sun resistant so it is easy to drive even during a sunny day, as usual it is a touch screen so one selects the targets using on screen keyboard.
The map presented on nüvi 660 can be either 2D or 3D (the later is probably better when on the road), the device also informs about turns using voice from the loudspeaker. The device contains a TMC traffic receiver for receiving traffic alerts and potential problems such as road blocks and construction works. Unfortunately one needs subscribe to this alerts and pay some money, fortunately Garmin gives a free three months trial for this so it is easy to decide later on if one really needs it.
The routing engine is as good as in other Garmin models, e.g. when one misses a turn it will automatically redraw the route to direct you from the current position. One can also define bookmarks for addresses, on can be marked as Home address, and later on user can select Home icon and the route to home will be displayed. Included software allows to plan the trip a head and upload it to the device.
The additional features included in the mp3 player, so it turns the GPS navigator into an iPod, no need to buy a special radio receiver with mp3 playback, or fm transmitter for mp3 player. One can also listen to audio books on nüvi 660. It also contains a Bluetooth transceiver, in combination with appropriate cellphone one can use the 660 as a hands free loudspeaker and microphone, without the need of buying separate equipment. More over user can use the touchscreen of Garmin GPS to dial numbers, as one can imagine the screen is much larger than the keyboard on the cell (it can also access the phone book from the phone).
If one wants to join the happy community of the Garmin nüvi 660 than it’s high time to buy it, it will be a great tool for a long time, it might be used also as a nice gift for family or a friend, the chosen one will be happy for sure, he/she won’t be lost anymore.
