On the latter part of 2008, Magellan released one of its high-end GPS offerings for the year – Maestro 4370. This portable navigation device is an upgrade from the Maestro 4250 with a few more features and a lot more reasons to buy this Magellan. Even with a lot of new models that came out since it first came out in the market, the Magellan Maestro 4370 is still comparable in terms of its features, functionality, as well as price. Its most distinct feature is OneTouch which allows easy access to favorite destinations or landmarks.

Design and Features

Most car owners are very conscious with the gadgets that they will add in their cars. The main concern is whether the gadget will “blend” in terms of looks with the car’s interior. With the Magellan Maestro 4370, this issue is non-existent. With its sleek, streamlined design, it will definitely fit in any car. With this function, the user can preselect favorite establishments like restaurants, gas stations, banks, or even frequently visited locations and addresses. The OneTouch function saves these favorite locations and compiles them in a single list. When the tab for OneTouch is tapped on the upper right corner of the screen, it will display the list and the user just needs to tap on the desired destination, then the route will be shown in no time. This is definitely one time-saver feature.

There are connectivity ports found in the Maestro 4370 such as the SD/MMC card slot, a mini USB port and an input for FM antenna. In the package, this 4370 comes with a USB cable, an AC adapter, car mount, and protective pouch, which most other brands and models of GPS devices do not have.

Functionality

The Magellan Maestro 4370 is capable of displaying different types of routes depending on the user’s preference. Journey options to choose from can either be mostly highways, or with toll roads or if you are having a car pool. Also, it does not only compute for the shortest route, it can also be requested to display most economical routes, simplest route or the fastest one. Traffic information may be factored in the route calculation since there is a built-in RDS/TMC receiver on the gadget’s car charger. This model can also provide detour information, if needed, and is also capable of configuring multi-destination trip routes.

With the Maestro 4370, maps may be viewed in 3D rendering. Buildings and other infrastructures will be shown in 3D on the screen and is very much helpful for those who are not familiar with the place. With the Maestro 4370, a visual representation of the place is provided thru its 3D functionality.
